August - About this and that

Last Sunday 31 July I was one of the artists that took part in the Anneli van Rooyen benefit concert. It was a honor and privilege to be part of this production, and I am glad that Anneli is making such a great recovery after her operation.

On 10 August Pasella will broadcast a profile about my biography on SABC 2. Hennie Smit, Simeon and Johan Schutte will be guests on the programme. Johan was the producer for my 1979 movie "Sing vir die Harlekyn", and has just completed the process to transfer the movie to DVD. It should be available in shops from middle August.

I don't know if the age of technology has made everything faster - but it surely feels like it! We are halfway thro 2011 and soon we will be hearing "Jingle Bells" playing in the shopping malls!
Anyway, as they say, if you can't beat them, join them!

It was a very cold winter for me, and for the first time I felt like hibernating.

I had to fight the flu twice and it really was a challenge to present my programmes not feeling well, but as they say "don't be in the kitchen if you can't stand the heat' and the show must go on!

I am currently busy working on my first children's album under the very capable direction of Lulu van der Walt. On this album I tell and sing children's stories, with my best "dog" friend Tjokker. Tjokker is an authentic Cape colored character, very street-smart and and knows everything.

Theo Klassen provided the voice for Tjokker and it was lots of fun creating a personality for my little dog friend. We hope to finish the album towards the end of August and it will hopefully be in the shops in time for Christmas.

That is my news for the moment, and I want to end with one last Idea: "Great ideas need landing gear as well as wings" CD Jackson.
